Ida Thonsgaard studied landscape architecture and urban planning at the Royal Danish academy of art, school of architecture, from 2000-2002, before transfering to Kunsthochschule Berlin-weissensee and graduating in architectural design in 2006. After graduating, she worked in Berlin in different creative fields, such as costume design, film and illustration. As an architect, she worked mainly in exhibition architecture, developing and visualizing ideas and concepts for museum exhibitions. She has also made large scale textile elements for the architecture of Peter Grundmann. Since 2020, she has graduately shifted from architecture to working with ceramics, and is now working from her small atelier in Ebeltoft on the coast of Denmark.
