LASER CUT FACADE
Outdoor facade curtain with laser cut pattern.
For Haus Thunecke by Peter Grundmann
in Schönhagen close to Perleberg, Germany.
The curtain covers one entire glass-facade and mesures 7 x 3.5 meters. The idea was to make an immaterial/illusional pattern, that would come to life only when light shines through it and fill the room with a feeling of flickering lightpearls. The colour black was chosen to show the contrast better between the material and the light.
A 7 x 3.5 m big pattern was made out of small holes (ca. 1,5 cm) and cut out with an industrial laser cutter. The curtain hangs on the outside of the house and makes a very lively lightshow, both when the wind blows and when the sun shines.

TEXTILE DESIGN FOR HAUS NEUMANN
Textile elements for Haus Neumann by Peter Grundmann in Neubrandenburg, Germany.
Materials:
White natural linen curtain for facade.
Red synthetic suede and spandex over black molton for the room dividers.
Neubrandenburg is a small city in former East Germany. Its townscape is decisively characterised by apartment buildings made from precast concrete slabs – typical GDR social housing. Haus Neumann is located on a small lot of only 7 m right between two existing blocks of flats. The exterior facade-curtain provides privacy and shade on sunny days. But it also gives an extra dimension to the house and the street, one of movement and surprise. The red room dividers on the first floor are thick and heavy, with cool and strechy spandex on one side, and soft, warm suede-fabric on the other.
